Absolutely (Story of a Girl)

Round 8 - November 2041
Christian and Alana Brown are 45, Christa is 16, Aidan and Hayden are 8 (Bobby Emerson is 16)

This is the story of a girl, the pretty face she hid from the world
And while she looks so sad and lonely there, I absolutely love her
This is the story of a girl, who cried a river and drowned the whole world
And while she looks so sad in photographs, I absolutely love her
When she smiles
Nine Days

"So we get to meet your boyfriend today, huh?" Aidan asked his sister.
"Shut up squirt. You guys better not embarrass me............."

"Christa thinks we are gonna embarrass her in front of her boyfriend," Aidan said as he entered the dining room.
"Now where would she get an idea like that?" Alana said laughing.
"It's not funny, mom! I'm serious, I like this guy. I don't need you guys scaring him off!" Christa said.
"What's not funny is you hanging out with this boy without us meeting him first," Christian said.
"Christian........" Alana began.
"Is there any wonder why?" Christa asked rolling her eyes.
"And just what does that mean?"
"Nothing. I'm meeting him at the natural history museum then we'll come back here for you to interrogate him," she said walking off.

"Why does she think we're gonna embarrass her?" Aidan asked.
"Because she's a teenager, honey," Alana said.
"Well I'm never gonna be like that!"
"Mmmmmmhmmmmm, sure you won't dear," Alana said laughing.

"Let's tone it down today, ok? She's already very closed off, don't make it worse, ok?" Alana said.
"Why is it I'm always the bad guy when it comes to her? I mean, am I a bad person for wanting the best for my family?" Christian asked.
"No. But you have to remember that it is a family. That needs a husband and a father," she said.
"I have been here, Alana. I'm not discussing this again. Not today," he said walking away.
"Of course not dear," Alana said with a sigh.

"I've always found history so fascinating," Bobby said once they arrived at the museum.
"You find everything fascinating," Christa said laughing.
"Are you calling me a nerd?"
"Yep! And I should know because I'm one too," she said smiling.

"Hey, thanks so much for doing this. I mean, meeting my parents."
"It's not a problem, Christa. I've been asking to meet them for months now," Bobby said.
"That's only because you don't know my dad."
"It can't be all that bad Christa. I really like you and I don't want to be some secret you're keeping from your parents."
"What? Of course you're not a secret! It's not you, it's him! My dad........well I've talked about him with you," Christa said.

"I know. But without him, you wouldn't be here. And I'm not just meeting him, I'm meeting your mom and brothers too," he said.
"Yea, I know. And they're great."
"So then there isn't a problem, right?" Bobby asked.
"I guess not.......hey, you want to shoot a few rounds of pool before we head there?"
"Why do I feel like you're stalling?" Bobby asked laughing.
"Because I am!"

They played a few rounds before Bobby finally convinced Christa that it would be better to simply get it over with.
"Come on you, let's go," he said.
"One more round?"
"Nope. Time to face the music," he said laughing.

"I'm not going anywhere, Christa. No matter what happens, I'm here."
"I'm going to hold you to that!" she said.

"I'm never going to have a girlfriend," Aidan said.
"Yuck! Who would want to do that?" Hayden asked.
"Mom said it's what teenagers do. But I'm not gonna!"
"Me either! Girls are gross!"
"Right! So we're never having a girlfriend, right?" Aidan asked.
"Right!"

"So, Bobby is it?" Christian asked.
"Yes sir."
"Why is it that I haven't met the young man that calls himself dating my daughter?"
"Well sir......." Bobby began.
"Dad! I already told you he wanted to and I said no," Christa said.
"I wasn't talking to you Christa. I was speaking to Bobby."

"Christian......." Alana began.
"No, it's okay. I did want meet you and your family and I could have insisted more, I suppose. But it was really up to Christa," Bobby said.
"So tell me a little about yourself."
"Well.......I mean, I'm 16, I recently moved to LaQuest Beach with my cousin. My parents died when I was little. I plan to go to LBU and maybe major in history. I would like to be a professor one day," he said.
"A professor...........that's a respectable career choice," he said.
"Great, are we done now?" Christa asked.

"You may not think that I have a right to know who my daughter is hanging out with and what she's doing, but you're wrong. You're 16, Christa. Until you graduate and leave this house, you're my responsibility and I WILL know important details like who you call yourself dating!" Christian said.

"You're right, dad. I'm your responsibility. And I'm sure that's how you view me. The fact of matter is, that's what we all are to you. So stop pretending that you're so concerned about me. You just wanted to make sure he wasn't someone that would embarrass the Grand Mayor of LaQuest Beach," she said.
"That isn't true! Where would you get an idea like that?" Christian exclaimed.
"From you."

"Christa, why don't you take Bobby on a tour of upstairs? Minus your bedroom of course," Alana said.
"God, mom of course I wouldn't take him to my room! Come on, Bobby."

"This has to end, Christian."
"What has to end?"
"I think we need to get some family counseling," Alana said getting up.
"Family counseling? Because of Christa? Alana, she's a moody teenager! That's hardly a justification for airing out our family business!" Christian said.
"You're oblivious to what it's really like for the rest of us. It's not just her. Hayden is getting in trouble in school for repeating things he hear you say. I'm not asking, Christian. I'm not asking," she said walking off.

"I'm sorry about that. You must think we're a bunch of nuts. I mean, arguing over this silly stuff when you don't even have your parents," Christa said.
"No, I get it. Me and my parents were really close and you guys aren't like that. It seems more like you were placed together to make a picture perfect family."
"Exactly. It's never felt like a real family. At least not to me. And I don't think my mom feels that way either," Christa said.

"Your mom is really sweet. And you only have one more year before it'll be just me and you off at college. You've survived it for sixteen years, what's one more?" Bobby said laughing.
"You're good for me, you know that? I don't know where I would be without you," Christa said smiling.

The next day was Thanksgiving and Aidan and Hayden were super excited about all the food they would get to eat.
"I'm gonna eat double what I did last year!" Hayden said.
"Bet you won't eat as much as me!" Aidan said.
"You're on!"

Alana hadn't been joking about the counseling. They were going to fix things with Christa before she went off to school. And they were going to fix this marriage, or she was leaving it..........

"Where are you going?" Alana asked after they sat down for dinner.
"I've got some things to look over at my office downtown," Christian said.
"On Thanksgiving Christian? Can't this wait?" Alana asked.
"Of course not, mom. He's the mayor," Christa said.

* Christa is seriously the most angst ridden teen I have ever had in game! I mean it's really crazy and sad. Examples of her angst:

Even Bobby is like "Calm down, crazy girl" lol

And she really did not enjoy the conversation about Bobby with her parents lol

* I do plan to show a session with Gordon next round before Christa heads off to college. This is the most disconnected family I have and I could see Christian and Alana splitting up. The wants in this house next round will determine their fate.

* And on a lighter note, how adorable are Hayden and Aidan? And my next biography will be on Alana so you'll get some of the back story of her and Christian before they came to LaQuest Beach. It will be posted on the randomness blog. I have it typed already, but I still have to do her photo collage.

  1. But seriously, out of all the teens in your hood to be angsty, isn't it just so fitting that it's Christa? I love it when Sims act in a way that makes sense for the story you're writing for them.

Counselling seems like a good idea for this family, not that Christian can see it. :\ Man, what is it going to take for him?

Bobby is a brave guy and I agree with Christa that he's good for her. He's so chilled out and he provides good balance for her. I can't wait to see these two at college.

  2. Wow, Christa has become more vocal about her disapproval for her father, but he isn't helping much either. I hope the counseling works.

  3. Carla - It's very fitting for Christa indeed lol. She's constantly frowned up! Christian is a jerk, plain and simple. I don't know if that is going to ever change permanently. He has his moments, but it always comes back to him being a jerk. Bobby is very good for Christa and I'm excited about them going off to college.

Apple Valley - Yea, she's at that stage where most kids have smart mouths anyway so it's twice as bad since she actually has a reason to resent her father.
