Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - 2038

Round 6 - Spring 2038 - LBU
Gordon Nott and Taesha Foster are 21, Lyria Nott is 6 months (Brian Johnson, Kenny Coners, and Slade Willis are 23, DeJuan Foster is 50, Kinsley Knowles is 31)

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life

Taesha found it hard to believe that her college career was coming to an end. It didn't seem like four years had really passed. And she found it even harder to believe her baby girl would be 1 in only a few months! Where did the time go?

She told herself it was better to concentrate on finishing her last semester and Lyria's impending birthday than to think about the fact that her mother, that horrible woman, had not only returned to LaQuest Beach but was also showing up unannounced to her dad's home. Seeing as how she and Gordon were supposed to be moving in with her dad and Donna, Taesha wasn't optimistic that she could avoid her mother for long..........

Gordon was doing his last minute studying for his exam in anger management. It was a requirement for him to receive his degree in psychology. He was excited about interning at the hospital and starting his master's program so he could one day work as an actual psychologist. He didn't know how soon he would be able to start his program. Taesha and he had discussed him taking out a loan to get the degree, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to do it so soon. He didn't want to have to live with Donna and DeJuan forever and getting his master's would set them back quite a bit.........

But before they knew it, they were college grads and Taesha's family came to celebrate with them. The only person who wasn't able to make it was Donna because she had to work. Brian was really proud of his step-sister and glad that he didn't have to kill Gordon.........yet.
"Admit it. Gordon turned out to be a pretty nice guy," Kenny said.
"Yea he did. But he still has time to screw up. And when he does......" Brian started.
"What? You'll kill him? Are Mindi's parents trying to kill you for breaking their daughter's heart?"
"That is so totally different," Brian said laughing.

Gordon found himself cornered in the bathroom by Slade.
"I gotta ask man. How do you do it?" Slade asked.
"Do what?"
"Not kill yourself? Dude, if I got some chick pregnant, I would seriously consider it. Your whole life is gone now!"
"Well for starters, Taesha isn't just some chick. I happen to really care about her. I would have married her and knocked her up eventually. It just happened a little earlier than I had originally planned. I love her and my daughter. Does that answer your question?" Gordon said laughing.
"Yea I guess so. Nice cut by the way," Slade said.
"I figured I needed to be a bit more clean cut for my internship."

"I'm proud of you, you know that?" Brian said.
"Yea I know. Thanks for being there. I know I'm not you and Kinsley's real sister, but you guys have always treated me like family."
"Duh, that's because you are family! Now where is my beautiful niece?" Brian asked.
"Probably upstairs with her grandpa. He is such a marshmallow," Taesha said.
"Hmmph. I wouldn't mess with DeJuan. Marshmallow my ass," Brian said laughing.

"I know I didn't handle the news about you being pregnant with much finesse, but it's only because I love you so much and want the best for you," DeJuan said.
"I know daddy. It's ok."
"I love you Tae. And I am so proud of you. Of everything I have accomplished in my life, you are the best thing I ever did," DeJuan said. His baby girl was a college graduate!

* Not Much happened other than them finishing the semester. Gordon finished with a GPA high enough to get cum laude. Taesha's pregnancy had a pretty big impact on her grades so she didn't graduate with honors, but she finished with a GPA of 3.6 which was right on the borderline.

* I went a little crazy with the graduation photos so here they are:

Gordon Nott, Taesha Foster, Lyria Nott

DeJuan Foster, Taesha Foster

Kinsley Johnson-Knowles, Taesha Foster

Brian Johnson and Taesha Foster

Brian Johnson, Taesha Foster, Kinsley Johnson-Knowles

Gordon Nott, Taesha Foster

* Most of these will hang in Donna and DeJuan's house. Gordon and Taesha and little Lyria have moved in with DeJuan and Taesha will start teaching at LaQuest Beach Elementary in the fall. Gordon will begin an intership at LaQuest Beach Memorial Hospital in psychology while he works on his master's degree in psychology.

* From now on, all my graduation post will have this same title and I'll add the year on to it. It's such a fitting song to me so why try to come up with new ones for the same type of post lol

* Congrats Class of 2038 :)

  1. That was the graduation song of every single graduating class the year I finished. Except our school, because we weren't allowed to have secular music at our grad. Lame!

But anyway, Taesha and Gordon have made a really nice little family for themselves. I can't wait to see how they do out in the real world.

  2. It seems this little family is headed for good things, with the internship and teaching gig. The little one is adorable, I like how the family is really quite smitten with her.

I'm looking forward to the update on the homefront, and how things go with her Mom. I'm assuming there is some drama headed in that direction!

Gordon looks good with his haircut, I like all the grad photos, especially the little family one.

  3. Carla - I've always loved that song! We didn't really have a graduation song (I went to a small high school in the country lol), but I would have chosen that if given the option! I'm excited to see how things go for them now that they've graduated. And thanks again for the help on how to get Lyria back to the hood.

Maisie - Yes, Charday Martin has not finished weaving her drama lol. Taesha will have a run in with her eventually :). I think Gordon looks better with the new hair too.

  4. Love the graduation, hate that Donna wasn't able to make it. It seems like something she would have fought to make it to. I can't wait to see the little one as a toddler.
