Round 6 - Summer 2027
Celeste Oros is 26, Satitu is 65, Starema Orionious is 160 (Amanda Gray is 40, Connor is 4, Christian Brown is 40)I can't stand to fly, I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find the better part of me
I'm more than a bird, I'm more than a plane
I'm more than some pretty face beside a train
And it's not easy, to be me
And it's not easy, to be me
Starema still wasn't too fond of the humans. She didn't understand their ability to fear anything they did not understand. She still got strange stares whenever she went out and she had been on Earth for years. But Neo never looked at her with fear. He would crawl up beside her and purr his content. She didn't know why the humans couldn't be as intelligent!
Satitu liked some aspects of Earth, he even liked a few of the humans. But he knew that they were still far away from an integration with them. He knew that Celeste wouldn't like it, but he felt that they should start explaining to Connor about his true identity. He didn't think they should tell him about being an alien just yet, but he did need to know that he was not alone. Amanda told them that Connor was making friends and had no problems at school, but Satitu was concerned nonetheless.
Celeste agreed with Satitu and promised him that she would start her sessions with Connor. This ambassador job was getting to be more complicated than she first envisioned. So much so that she, Satitu, and Totia were going to take a little vacation. They were leaving the next day for Takezimu Village. It would be Totia's first visit to Earth and Celeste was really excited to see her friend.
When Celeste returned from her meeting with King Rolared on Peragama, Amanda brought Connor over to see her.
"Good to see you again, Amanda," Starema said.
"You too. So what exactly is Celeste going to tell Connor?"
"She really wants him to see us, to know that he is not the only one different from the rest. This is a subject that must be revealed very carefully," Starema said.
"I just hope he doesn't freak out........."
"Hello, Connor," Celeste said.
"Um, hi."
"I haven't seen you in a very long time. Do you remember me?"
"No not really. You.........you look different. Not like my mom and dad and Alex," Connor said.
"That's true. I'm special just like you. And so is my mother and my husband."
"All the kids at school think I'm an alien! I've told them I'm not, my skin was just made wrong," he said.
"Is that what your parents told you?"
"No, but I know that's what it is. They said I'm special too but what's special bout being green?"
"Connor, being different isn't always so bad. Sometimes, it's good to be different," she said.
"I don't want to hear this! I want to be like the other kids!"
"But Connor........"
"I'M NOT LISTENING TO YOU!" he yelled.
"Connor! Stop yelling! Come on, let's go inside," Celeste said.
As Celeste and Connor walked past Amanda and Starema, she noticed Connor's contacts.
"I cannot believe you are covering his eyes with those idiotic things! He is a Timtiu! His eyes are nothing to be ashamed of!" Starema said.
"I'm not going to tell you this again, Starema. This is not Peragama! Connor has to interact with other kids! Human kids! And he already has to deal with being green. Can you imagine the panic that would start if he walked around without those contacts on? I will not have my son ridiculed or taken from me by some crazy ass scientists! You and your people put me and Corbin in this position. And we will parent him as we see fit. So butt out!"
"I'm sorry I yelled. I just want to be like everyone else. It's not fair. All my friends look like their mommies and daddies. But I don't......" Connor said.
"I know sweetie. But there is a reason for that."
"What is it?"
"You know, I was just like you. I grew up looking different. I wanted to look like everyone else too."
"You don't anymore?"
"No, I don't. Because I found out just how special I am. And you're special like me too. And I'm going to explain it all to you one day. But for right now, I just want us to be friends. Is that ok?" Celeste asked.
"I guess......Why am I special?"
"We'll save that for another time. How would you like to come over and see me once in a while?"
"Ok. Can I bring Ryan with me? He's my friend," Connor said.
"No, not right now. Right now we'll have a secret friendship okay? One that only you and I and your mom and dad know about."
"Why?"
"Because we're going to share secrets. And if other people know, they might try to steal our secrets. So is it a deal?"
"Okay, cool! Thanks Miss Celeste!"
"I think your mom is ready to go. But you make sure you come back okay?"
"I will, secret buddy," he said smiling.
"Good bye, Connor."
Connor and Amanda weren't gone for 30 minutes before Mayor Brown showed up unexpectedly.
"Mayor Brown! To what do I owe this pleasure?" Celeste asked.
"Let's cut the crap, shall we Ms. Sky? Or shall I say Mrs. Oros?"
"I'm not sure I know what you mean," she said.
"I would like to know why my daughter is attending school with a green child? You see, strange things like this did not happen until you arrived. Since then, you've had a mother come from out of no where, and now you're married. And you mother and husband both have the same "skin condition" as you. Now why is that?" he asked.
"What are you suggesting?" Celeste asked laughing.
"That there is something very strange going on around here. And I think you are in the middle of it."
"Mayor Brown, the condition that I have is genetic. My mother has it and passed it along to me. And since I look so strange, as you kindly pointed out, I decided to find a partner who could understand the trials associated with this condition," Celeste said.
"And what is your condition called?"
"I really fail to see how any of this is your concern. Me and my family are not breaking any laws. And it is unfortunate that that young child has to grow up with a similar disorder. I would think you would be a bit more compassionate."
"Do you think I'm stupid, Mrs. Oros?"
"I would never suggest such a thing. I think you are merely creating problems where there are none."
"Mark my words, Mrs. Oros. I will find out what is going on around here. I will not have a bunch of freaks messing over my city. And my daughter will not be attending school with a bunch of freaks. I'm on to you and you can bet the farm that I will get to the bottom of this and have you removed from LaQuest Beach," he said before leaving.
"What was the mayor doing here?" Satitu asked.
"We have a problem," Celeste said.
He's convinced that we're hiding something. I have no idea what I'm suppose to do about this," Celeste said after they sat down to dinner.
"Honestly, I'm surprised it has taken this long. The humans fear....."
"Anything they don't understand," Celeste and Satitu finished together.
"Well it's the truth," Starema said.
"You're not helping, Mom. I don't know what to do. If he starts snooping around here, things are going to go bad, fast. And I don't even want to know how he's going to harrass poor Amanda and Corbin about Connor," Celeste said.
"I'm afraid it is your job to handle these situations. It is why King Rolared appointed you ambassador. I think you should alert him to what is going on," Satitu said.
"You should not have moved back here. You had the opportunity to stay on Peragama," Starema said.
"Then what? Who would stand up for Connor then? You think this situation would be better if I wasn't here? Connor would have still started school and attracted the attention of Mayor Brown. Again, you're not helping!" Celeste said.
"I think you should transmit onto Peragama when we return from our trip," Satitu said.
"Shouldn't we cancel the trip?"
"Sure. I'll let you explain to Totia why her trip to Earth is going to be postponed! It can wait a few days," he said.
"Sure. I'll let you explain to Totia why her trip to Earth is going to be postponed! It can wait a few days," he said.
"I guess you're right. Mom will still be here if something happens."
Celeste heard Neo meowing behind her chair and got up to pet him. This was a disaster. She really had not forseen this being a problem. She assumed her job as ambassador would simply be her helping the kids cope with being half aliens. She never thought about someone bringing their heritage into question. But the skin condition story was a bit hard to swallow.....she didn't know what to do........
"It's going to be ok, you know? I know you're going to figure this out, Celeste," Satitu said.
Celeste wasn't so sure........
* I had to divide this into two parts because I didn't realize how many pics I had taken lol. I tried to cull them down, but most of them are important to the flow of the entry. So two parts it is :)
* Christian walked by their house twice, which inspired the story. I have an idea of how this is going to play out. Christian might want to be careful where he's sticking his nose lol. I hope I did justice to Connor's voice. I haven't been around a four year old in a while so I did my best lol. I figure he would be a bit more advanced and capable of picking things up faster than a human child. Plus, if he were on Peragama, he would be 10 years old.
* Starema loves that damn cat! She spends most of her time playing with it lol. Which is fine considering I really don't have much for her to do!
* The second part will be about their vacation with Totia.......I was so glad to get to play her again :).
Cats are cool, so I agree with her spending all her time with her little kitty baby :P Wow, the Mayor is very insensitive, I think that he should be the next one to be inpregnanted so that way he can understand, nothing like having the mayor of a town be in on a national secret...sort of like x-men...or smallville :P
ReplyDeleteLOL on Starema playing with the cat, and nothing else for her. I can totally see why she'd be more attached to the cat than humans though.
ReplyDeleteI've missed Totia! I can't wait to read the second part.
Poor Connor, it's not going to be easy. He looks cool as heck, but when school is all about conformity, that kind of thing just isn't the best. He'll need to get some esteem going, and be ok with himself, or he'll likely face issues.
I wonder what Celeste is going to do about the Mayor. Eek!
Celeste is going to be such a great support for Connor as he grows up. It sounds like he's going to need it too, with the Mayor sniffing around being suspicious now!
ReplyDeleteAs for the cat, well...the cat is pretty adorable, lol!
Apple Valley - haha I'm more of a dog person, but Neo is pretty cute :). Yes, I foresee lots of trouble for Christian in the future if he doesn't lighten up.......
ReplyDeleteMaisie - Neo is much cooler than the humans have been to Starema :). I've missed Totia too! I'm trying to find a way to make her a playable character lol. Connor is cool, but you're right school is all about conformity unfortunately.
Carla - I think Celeste will be good for him because she knows what it feels like, she has been in his shoes. And yea, Mayor Brown isn't helping. He's so much about appearances that he can't stand to have anything go wrong with LaQuest. He feels it reflects badly upon him....
OOO the Mayor might find himself in for a world of hurt if he keeps digging.
ReplyDeleteI felt bad for Connor. It's hard being different from everyone especially at an age when all you wantto do is fit in
